The Ministry of Tourism Permanent Secretary, Mr Evans Muhanga, has launched the 2026 Diplomatic Fun Fair, which is expected to bring together representatives from more than 30 countries to showcase different cultures.

Mr Muhanga has described the fair as a platform for promoting Zambia’s tourism, celebrating cultural diversity and strengthening relations among nations.

The fair will be held on October 3, 2026 at the Lusaka Showgrounds under the theme, “Zambia Moves You: Connecting Cultures and Inspiring the Future.”

Mr Muhanga said cultural diplomacy plays an important role in building understanding, friendship and cooperation among nations.

“The Diplomatic Fun Fair gives us an opportunity to celebrate the cultures that make every nation unique while recognising the shared values that unite us. Through culture, we build friendships; through tourism, we connect people; and through cooperation, we create opportunities for a better future,” he said.

He said the event supports Government’s efforts to promote Zambia as a leading tourism destination by showcasing its cultural heritage and national tourism brand, Zambia Moves You.

“The Fun Fair will allow Zambia to share its story with the world while giving Zambians an opportunity to experience the traditions, food, music, fashion and tourism offerings of other countries in one place,” he said.

The event will feature traditional dances and music, a cultural fashion show, traditional games, storytelling, crafts, cultural exhibitions and presentations on traditional ceremonies.

Families, young people, residents, visitors, tourism businesses and members of the creative sector have been invited to attend the event, with entry free of charge.

Mr Muhanga commended the diplomatic community and cooperating partners for supporting the initiative and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to using tourism and culture to strengthen international partnerships, stimulate domestic tourism and create opportunities for Zambia’s creative and tourism industries.
