Ruth Ronnie, 32, drags ‘abusive’ ex-boyfriend ,25, to court over assault.

During trial, on September 26, 2025, Ms Mukanga said that in July 7, 2025, she went out with her then partner, Brian, whom she said was now ex-boyfriend.

“We went to Lewanika Mall at around 11pm we went to Decapo upto the following day around 04:00 or 05:00.

“My ex boyfriend had an argument but sorted it out. We went to my apartment then around 6AM, we went to long acres,” the singer, known for songs such as, Fairy Tale, said.

She said she was later approached by a group of ladies who asked why she was not seen on social media.

In response, she told them she was in an abusive relationship.

While she telling them this, Brian was there at a short distance watching.

“I later noticed he was talking to a man asking him to leave with him. I asked if they knew each other.

“Then they starting exchanging words since he didn’t know him. I noticed the man was with a lady who came and started fighting me. Slapped me and starting filming me,” Ms Mukanga said.

She narrated that she then left the place but that Brian started blaming her over the earlier altercation.

“He started insulting me…that’s how the argument escalated until two men came to draged me to a secluded area. There, my ex came to punch me, pulled my hair and broke my finger”.

“…he started filming me, threatening to post and expose my drunken behavior online as he was beating me on the ground. I tried getting up but was in pain and injured,” Ms Mukanga said.

She said Brian later walked away before two men came to her rescue.

“I called his mother to explain what was happening then later I saw Brian coming back with a group of guys even recording. He came requesting for a K500 that I got from him the previous evening for food,” she said.

Ms Mukanga said the accused grabbed her phone and bag and instructed the two men to take her to the police.

She said she dragged to Longacres Police where Brian also later arrived with his two friends “who helped assault me”.

Ms Mukanga said Brian and his friends accused her of owing the ex boyfriend money.

“I was asked to pay him with immediate effect of which I did. Trying to explain my self i was blocked. I then suggested to report the assault but I was told there was no officer who deals with such matters,” Ms Mukanga said.

She said she then phoned her friend Victoria Muhone, aka Wezi to informed her about the incident.

Ms Mukanga further narrated that she later went home accompanied by Brian, who insisted to go with her.

“He entered my house and continued to harass me and threatened to kill me. I went to my bedroom crying, he came to demand for money so that he gets a ride to his house. I refused until he left,” she said.

Ms Mukanga said Ms Muhone went to pick her home so she could see a doctor before the case was reported to police.

The court heard that after the alleged assault, police had asked Brian to delete the videos he captured of Ms Mukanga but he never did so.

“…he was spreading the video with his friends with a false narrative.

There was a time we tried to reconcile as his family and him spoke to me. He secretly was recording nude videos which he started threatening me with them. I deleted the video but later discovered he had the old videos,” Ms Mukanga said.

She said Brian continued to harass her and trespassed at her premises.

“At some point, his friend called me informing me on his plans to plant drugs in my house and implicate me…he abused me physically emotionally and mentally. He violated my privacy,” Ms Mukanga added.
