By Nyambe Nalishebo

Vice-President MUTALE NALUMANGO has warned civil servants and other public officials against sharing Government information with fugitives or concealing their whereabouts, saying those involved will face the law.

Mrs. NALUMANGO says threatening the lives of the President and Vice-President is a criminal offence and that anyone involved will be held accountable.

She was responding to questions from Members of Parliament during the Vice-President’s Question Time in Parliament today.

Mrs. NALUMANGO also expressed concern over some civil servants whom she accused of obstructing Government programmes, describing them as enemies of the people.

On agriculture, the Vice-President said Government will pay all farmers who supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency -FRA.

She said Government had initially planned to purchase 500,000 metric tonnes of maize but had bought more than 2.7 million metric tonnes.

Mrs. NALUMANGO said Government has developed a funding plan to meet its payment obligations through the national budget, borrowing from commercial banks and revenue from maize sales.

She also advised farmers against selling all their maize, urging them to retain enough for household food security amid forecasts of an El Niño weather pattern.
