We are not backing down, we are going to WAfCON – Kundananji

THE Copper Queens have upped their fighting spirit ahead of their decisive Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAfCON) qualifier against Namibia today, and star forward Rachael Kundananji says the team is ready to finish strong and book their ticket to the continental showpiece.

With a 4-2 advantage from the first leg played in South Africa, Zambia carries momentum into Sunday’s clash at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, but Kundananji insists the team is taking nothing for granted.

In her pre-match interview, she stated that the squad had worked tirelessly to correct errors from the previous game, sharpening their attack and tightening their defence under the guidance of coach Nora Hauptle.

“We have fixed what went wrong and everyone’s focused. This match means everything, it’s our final step to AfCON,” she said with conviction.

Kundananji, who plays her club football in the US also highlighted the importance of team chemistry and mentorship, noting that experienced players have a duty to nurture the new generation of Copper Queens.
