PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says no matter how important leaders may think they are, without God they are nothing.
The Head of State said any progress recorded by his administration was only possible because God was using them as instruments to serve the people of Zambia.
President Hichilema was speaking when he received Ghanaian evangelist Dag Heward-Mills and his entourage at State House yesterday during a courtesy call ahead of the ongoing Healing Jesus Campaign crusade in Lusaka.
Welcoming the delegation, the President described State House as the People’s State House, saying he was merely a servant operating from the building and not its owner.
He said Zambia remained a Christian nation whose values recognised the importance of prayer and divine guidance.
“We Christians, by and large, Zambia is a Christian nation and we believe that no matter what we think we are, who we think we are, without God, we are nothing,” said President Hichilema.
“And anything that we may have been able to do for the people of Zambia and to contribute beyond our country is because God is using us as his tools.”
The President also thanked Bishop Heward-Mills for bringing greetings from Ghanaian President John Mahama, who recently visited Zambia.
He further praised the preacher’s ministry, books, crusades and humanitarian works such as hospitals and orphanages, saying they were helping many people around the world.
President Hichilema also commended local church bodies for working together to host the campaign, saying unity in the body of Christ was the correct path.
