Zambia has expanded its international cooperation through new partnerships with Belize and the Sovereign Order of Malta.

The agreements cover areas including trade, investment, climate resilience, healthcare and humanitarian support.

Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE signed a Joint Communique with Belize Ambassador OSCAR ARNOLD on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The agreement provides a framework for cooperation in climate change adaptation, environmental conservation, agriculture, tourism, trade and investment.

Zambia has also established diplomatic relations with the Sovereign Order of Malta.

Mr. HAIMBE signed on behalf of Zambia, while Grand Chancellor RICCARDO PATERNÒ DI MONTECUPO represented the Sovereign Order of Malta.

The partnership will focus on humanitarian affairs, healthcare delivery, emergency response and support for vulnerable populations.

Mr. HAIMBE said the two agreements will strengthen Zambia’s international partnerships and contribute to the advancement of President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s Grow Zambia Agenda.

Meanwhile, Mr. HAIMBE has called for stronger, inclusive and effective multilateralism to promote peace and sustainable development.

He was speaking at the 50th Annual Meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77 and China in New York.

Mr. HAIMBE said multilateralism should be anchored on the United Nations Charter, sovereign equality of states, international law, cooperation and solidarity.

He said Zambia remains committed to the unity and solidarity of the G77 and China.
