Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Media Manager Godfrey Chikumbi says Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda continues to raise Zambia’s international profile through football following her third consecutive Ballon d’Or nomination, in which she finished 18th.

The Orlando Pride forward has been nominated for the award for three consecutive years, achieving her highest ranking in 2024 when she finished 12th.

In an interview, Mr Chikumbi said Banda’s achievements continued to promote Zambia internationally.

“Barbra continues to put Zambia on the global map even when the country continues to sustain the gains it has made economically,” Mr Chikumbi said.

He said Banda was contributing to the Grow Zambia Agenda through her role in promoting the country’s visibility and tourism.

Mr Chikumbi described her third consecutive nomination as a proud moment for the player, FAZ and the country.

He said her nominations also served as motivation for the national team to work harder as it prepares for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.
