Botswana’s President Duma Boko has publicly praised Burkina Faso leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré for the speed and decisiveness of his governance, contrasting it with Botswana’s own democratic and bureaucratic processes.

In an interview with SABC, Boko stated:

“When he makes a pronouncement, it is law, it is policy, and actions follow.”

Boko acknowledged that Botswana’s democratic systems can slow decision-making and said he would push for faster government action “within the confines of the law.”

He also called for stronger regional cooperation and greater local processing of Africa’s minerals during remarks linked to the SADC Summit.

The comments mark a rare public endorsement of Traoré’s leadership style by a Southern African head of state.
