Chief Mphuka of the Chikunda people of Luangwa District has appealed for calm and peace in the nation.

Chief Mphuka said that it is important to uphold peace after the elections.

He said politics should not divide the country because they come and go.

The Chief was speaking to the media at his palace in Luangwa District of Lusaka Province.

The Chief likened politics to the game of football adding that there is a winner and loser in every game.

“It is important to accept defeat because there cannot be two Presidents at the same time,” His Royal Highness emphasised.

The Chief explained that when elections are over people should put political affiliation aside and focus on progressive matters.

He stressed that once elections are over, citizens must accept and understand that the President elected is for all Zambians and not belonging to a certain group of people or part of the country.

His Royal Highness appealed to Zambians to embrace the One Zambia One Nation motto for continued peace and harmony in the country.
