US singer Chris Brown is sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for a year, over an incident at a nightclub in Mayfair, London in 2023.
Brown, 37, pleaded guilty in July to a charge of affray – here’s a recap of what we heard in court.
The victim, music producer Abe Diaw, needed hospital treatment for head and knee injuries, with CCTV showing Brown hitting Diaw on the head with a glass bottle.
Delivering his sentencing remarks, Judge Tony Baumgartner says “the repeated use” of a bottle was “plainly dangerous.”
Acknowledging the incident was “short”, the judge says it was also “intense”. Earlier, defence barristers said this was an “ugly and unattractive incident”, adding it “was very short-lived.”
The R&B singer’s co-defendant and vocal coach, 40-year-old Omololu Akinlolu, gets a four-month sentence – and also has it suspended for a year.
