Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Engineer Joe Kalusa has called for greater efforts to preserve Zambia’s cultural heritage and promote national unity.

Speaking during the Independence Carnival, Mr. Kalusa said cultural activities went beyond entertainment, serving as platforms for promoting cultural awareness, educating young people and encouraging community participation.

“These activities are not merely forms of entertainment. They are powerful expressions of our identity, history and collective experience as a people,” he said.

Mr Kalusa said investment in cultural tourism, traditional crafts, music, dance and other creative industries could create employment opportunities, improve household incomes and contribute to national development.

He urged Zambians to support local artists and cultural practitioners to help preserve the country’s cultural heritage while promoting economic opportunities within the creative sector.
