EU EOM DELEGATION PAYS COURTESY CALL ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS PS

At Charter House today, Ms. Etambuyu Anamela Gundersen, Permanent Secretary for International Relations and Cooperation (IR&C), received a delegation from the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM), led by Dr. Beata Martin-Rozumilowicz, the Deputy Chief Observer for the EU EOM to Zambia.

The discussions were centred on the recently concluded General Elections in Zambia. The Mission expressed its appreciation to the Government of the Republic of Zambia for the hospitality and cooperation extended to its team throughout the electoral process.

The Mission is expected to present its final report to the Government in the last week of October, outlining its observations and recommendations from the electoral process.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary thanked the Mission for its work and noted that the Government of the Republic of Zambia looks forward to receiving the final report. She reaffirmed that the Government remained available to facilitate implementation of the recommendations arising from the report.

Ms. Gundersen further emphasised the importance of national ownership of development priorities, noting that any recommendations adopted by Government would be considered and implemented in accordance with Zambia’s national priorities. She underscored that this would be done while taking cognisance of Zambian laws and obligations as a responsible member of the international community.
