By Daisy Mulenga Former Vice Presidents ENOCH KAVINDELE and NEVERS MUMBA have condemned politician, KATELE KALUMBA for allegedly harassing and threatening President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA. Speaking to ZNBC News, Dr. MUMBA said the remarks are regrettable given Dr. KALUMBA’s previous appeal for assistance while in hospital and the subsequent intervention that led to his release from prison. Dr. MUMBA said leaders have a responsibility to exercise restraint and respect when addressing fellow citizens and holders of public office. He has advised Dr. KALUMBA to consider apologizing to President HICHILEMA and the nation when he appears in court. And former Vice President ENOCH KAVINDELE has described Dr. KALUMBA’s remarks as inappropriate and inconsistent with the conduct expected of a former government official. Mr. KAVINDELE said having served in government Dr. KALUMBA is expected to understand the established channels for addressing grievances. He said Dr. KALUMBA should have exercised greater restraint in expressing his concerns about the Head of State. Meanwhile, House of Clergy Executive Director JIMMY NG’AMBI said political conflicts should not become an excuse for conduct that threatens the dignity of national institutions or the peace of the country.
