By Arnold Tutu

The Zambia Police Service says it is conducting security risk assessments at selected key Government premises across the country.

Inspector General of Police GRAPHEL MUSAMBA says the exercise is being conducted in collaboration with other law enforcement and security agencies.

Mr. MUSAMBA says the operations are intelligence-led and preventive, and are aimed at safeguarding Government institutions, public officers and members of the public accessing the premises.

He says the exercise is intended to identify and address potential security vulnerabilities and prevent threats to public safety and the functioning of Government institutions.

Mr. MUSAMBA says the assessments are being conducted at selected premises under the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, National Prosecution Authority, Attorney General’s Chambers and other Government departments and institutions.

In a statement issued today, Mr. MUSAMBA said the exercise is not directed at any individual or group.

He said the operations are part of ongoing security measures to strengthen protection at critical Government premises and ensure the safety of people and property.

Mr. MUSAMBA said the exercise is being conducted professionally and lawfully, in coordination with other security and law enforcement agencies.

He said the exercise is ongoing and that further information will be provided.

Mr. MUSAMBA has urged members of the public to remain calm, cooperate with security personnel and comply with security instructions.
