U.S. Military Aircraft Lands in Moscow; Kremlin Claims No Knowledge

A U.S. Air Force Boeing C-17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport on Tuesday morning, according to flight-tracking data, but Russian officials say they have no information about the arrival.

Key Facts:

· Aircraft & Flight: The C-17, operating under callsign RCH4555, departed Riga, Latvia at approximately 8:50 a.m. Moscow time and landed at Vnukovo around 10:04 a.m. on August 25, 2026.

· Origin: The aircraft had previously arrived in Riga on August 23 from Camp Springs, Maryland, home to Joint Base Andrews…the U.S. military installation that supports presidential air transport, including Air Force One.

· Kremlin Response: The Kremlin stated on Tuesday that it has no information about the aircraft or its arrival in Moscow. Officials also indicated that no meeting with the U.S. administration is currently planned

·Significance: The purpose of the flight remains unknown. This appears to be the first known landing of a U.S. military transport aircraft in Moscow since 2017, and C-17s are typically used for high-level diplomatic or government missions.-M21
