The National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) will not participate in the by-elections, citing financial constraints and internal wrangles in the party.
NRPUP Secretary General Nonde Mubanga has told Diamond News in an interview that the party has written to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) regarding its decision not to participate in the by-elections.
This means that the Lumezi Constituency by-election nomination, where NRPUP was expected to file nominations, may not take off as it is the only political party that was expected to file a nomination today after its candidate, Clement Mwale, died before poll day in August.
However, Leadership Movement Nebby Manda and United Party for National Development UPND Candidate Anderson Banda nominations remain valid.
