By Hannock Kasama Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says Zambia has exceeded the international target on the treatment of HIV/AIDS. Ms NALUMANGO said Zambia has gone beyond the 95 percent global benchmark, achieving a 98 percent treatment level. She thanked cooperating partners, including the United States Government, for their support to HIV/AIDS programmes in Zambia. The Vice President made the remarks in Lusaka last night during the commemoration of the US Peace Corps’ 34 years of presence in Zambia. At the same event, US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires MICH COKER said his government’s HIV/AIDS interventions in Zambia have increased life expectancy among beneficiaries. Peace Corps Zambia Country Director NATALIE MENSAH added that there are currently more than 2,600 volunteers serving in Zambia.
