The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services has reportedly commenced disbursement of more than K1.4 billion under the July-August 2026 Social Cash Transfer (SCT) payment cycle.

Ministry Principal Public Relations Officer, Glenda Nachinga, said the funds would be distributed to more than 1.5 million beneficiary households across the country.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Nachinga said beneficiaries would be able to redeem their funds through their respective payment service providers over the next four weeks, as payments would be made at different times.

“The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services has commenced the disbursement of Social Cash Transfer (SCT) payments for the July–August 2026 payment cycle, providing much-needed support to vulnerable households across the country,” Nachinga said.

She urged beneficiaries to safeguard their SIM cards and mobile phones and ensure that their PINs remained confidential.

She said government remained committed to sustaining and strengthening the SCT Programme as a strategic national investment in inclusive growth and social development.
