Lusaka, Zambia — October 24, 2026 — Zambia is making a strong commitment to speed up the implementation of the Transforming Landscapes for Resilience and Development (TRALARD II) Project. The government is focused on accelerating procurement processes, expediting project works, and ensuring funds are disbursed promptly so that communities can start reaping the benefits of this initiative.

Mary Mwiikisa, the Communication Officer for TRALARD II at the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, shared that during a debrief of the Implementation Support Mission in Lusaka on October 23, 2026, Permanent Secretary Dr. Douty Chibamba emphasized the government’s dedication to making this project a success.

Dr. Chibamba highlighted that the government would prioritize speeding up procurement, implementing project activities, and distributing sub-grants to ensure the initiative yields real results on the ground.

World Bank TRALARD II Task Team Leader Ambroise Brenier described the recent field mission to Muchinga Province as a success, noting that the Emissions Reduction Programme (ERP) is on track to achieve significant advancements in the carbon sector by 2028.

Mr. Brenier also urged for a quicker disbursement of funds to sub-grant beneficiaries and other project components to enhance resource utilization and support effective implementation.

Morten Holm van Donk, the Nordic Development Fund Programme Manager overseeing TRALARD II in Zambia, reassured Dr. Chibamba of the Fund’s ongoing support for the successful execution of the project.

The meeting also included virtual participation from the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, along with provincial permanent secretaries from Muchinga, Northern, Southern, Luapula, and Copperbelt provinces.
