US President Donald Trump has called for Ukraine to replace President Volodymyr Zelensky, criticising Kyiv’s attacks on Russian oil refineries amid a dispute over a diesel supply deal with Moscow.

Reuters reported that Trump made the remarks at the White House on Saturday, a day after announcing a diesel deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zelensky said the decision to ease sanctions on Russian diesel had emboldened Moscow, linking it to a Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia that killed 20 people, including three children.

“Different signals are needed,” Zelensky said, arguing that easing pressure on Russia encouraged further attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Trump accused Zelensky of harming global diesel supplies through strikes on Russian refineries and urged him to stop targeting Russian energy facilities.

The dispute comes as Washington, Kyiv and European officials pursue discussions on a possible end to the war, while Russia has partially lifted a ban on diesel exports, according to Reuters.
