The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested and charged a Solwezi Municipal Council Chief Human Resource Officer with alleged false accounting involving K103, 600.
In a statement issued on Sunday, ACC Head of Corporate Communications Joseph, Mwenya, Golden Matimba, 43, had been charged with False Accounting by a Public Officer, contrary to Section 327 of the Penal Code.
Mwenya said the money was allegedly received by Matimba to facilitate payments for the 2023 Labour Day celebrations at the council.
“Between April 27 and June 2023 in Solwezi, Matimba allegedly submitted a false statement relating to the retirement of the K103, 600,” he said.
Matimba has since been released on bond and is expected to appear in court soon.

The ACC has warned public officers to comply with financial management regulations and said it would continue to investigate and prosecute those suspected of mismanaging or falsifying public funds.
Mwenya said public resources must be managed transparently and used for their intended purposes.
