Mumba Yachi – Ingashi (Na Mpundu Mwape III)

Mumba Yachi returns with the official music video for “Ingashi (Na Mpundu Mwape III),” a song taken from his acclaimed Green album, bringing together love, appreciation and Zambian cultural heritage in a powerful visual experience.

“Ingashi” refers to the palm tree, which Mumba Yachi uses as a metaphor to praise a woman who serves as a mother figure to many. At the centre of the song is a simple message about appreciation and reciprocity — when a woman is genuinely loved, valued and cherished, she will in turn tebeta you.

The official video takes that message beyond music by capturing a real Matebeto ceremony held when Mr. Makungu Saluti was tebetad. Rather than recreating the tradition for the cameras, the visual captures the ceremony in its authentic setting, allowing the cultural practice to become part of the story behind the song.

Matebeto is a traditional Zambian ceremony rooted in Bemba culture, where the family of a woman celebrates and honours the man who is marrying or married to their daughter. The ceremony involves the presentation of various foods and gifts as gestures of appreciation, goodwill and acceptance.
